An Evening of Harmony

The Brain’s Hidden Work

I recently learned that all our brain does is make predictions—based on past experiences and present circumstances. I picked this up from my favourite podcast, of course: DOAC. One more thing I learned is that there are three things that are most expensive for our brain: Movement, Learning New Things, and Uncertain Situations. And our brain can rarely handle all three at once.

The Cost of Uncertainty

I experienced this last month. I found myself in a situation where I had kept my brain in uncertainty for a long time, and it started affecting my movement. I stopped going on daily walks, my weight loss hit a plateau, and my control over diet loosened. I also struggled a bit with learning new things.

Closure is Fuel

Something happened yesterday that gave me closure to that uncertain situation—and those who know me are well aware of how much I love clarity and closure. No matter what the result, I’m calmer when there’s clarity.

Now that the uncertainty no longer had a hold on me, my brain automatically repurposed that calorie expense toward movement. At 5:30 PM today, I felt that familiar urge to walk—the one I hadn’t had in days—where it felt like I had to go out, or the day would be incomplete.

Movement Returns

I put on my shoes and started walking, telling myself I’d go for 20–25 minutes, as I’m still recovering from a slight ligament swelling and was advised not to walk for a week. But I don’t know what came over me—the next thing I decided was that I wouldn’t stop until I either completed 8 km or my leg seriously hurt, whichever came first.

To my surprise, the leg didn’t hurt. (I’m feeling it now, a little, but not then.) I had my phone with me, got lost in songs, and just kept walking.

A Summer to Remember

Then something broke my flow state, it was the weather. Karjat was having one of the best summer evenings of its life, and I was lucky enough to walk through it and capture some really amazing pictures. It truly made my day. If my first blog was a morning of hope, this one would be an evening of harmony.

I believe that if you find something that makes you happy, you shouldn’t keep it to yourself, you should share it. It amplifies the happiness. So, I’m going to share the photos with you all.
